Northern Beaches Readers Festival Secures Council Funding
The Northern Beaches Readers Festival (NBRF) is delighted to announce it has received a grant from the Northern Beaches Council to assist in staging the Festival in 2021.
‘We are absolutely delighted to receive this vote of confidence in our vision for the Northern Beaches Readers Festival,’ said Festival Director, Sandie Docker. ‘We were incredibly disappointed to cancel our inaugural Festival this year due to COVID-19. But we are determined to bring this exciting event to the Northern Beaches in 2021, and the Council grant is exactly the boost we needed.’
In an extremely competitive application process, 135 applications were made to the Council’s Arts and Creativity Grant Stream and 26 were recommended for funding –NBRF being one of them.
The Festival is the brain-child of internationally published, Sydney-based author of contemporary women’s fiction, Sandie Docker, who has identified, through her book tours and strong industry connections, a need to promote and showcase the amazing work being produced by Australian writers and a desire from readers of such work to connect with writers.
‘Our vision for NBRF 2021 is a weekend of panels, ‘in-conversation’ events, Q and A opportunities and author signings with some of Australia’s favourite writers,’ said Sandie. ‘We are a not-for-profit organisation, run by volunteers who have a passion for reading and storytelling and this grant from Northern Beaches Council will help us to deliver an exciting and accessible event.'
A date for the Festival, and a program of confirmed authors and events will be released in coming months.
In the meantime, head to the festival website – NBRF.com.au – to stay in touch with all the latest news and events.
